Enhancement in Orientation and Crystallinity of P3AT polymers
The crystallinity and orientation of poly(3-alkylthiophene)s (P3ATs) thin film is the crucial factor because of the insulating alkyl side chain. In-order to achieve the 2D charge transport, it is indeed in the enhancement in orientation of thermodynamically stable edge-on oriented crystallites ((100) contact plane). We have taken an effort to prepare such a uni-axial oriented crystallites using simple low temperature casting method. The below 2D X-ray diffraction pattern shows the formation of highly edge-on oriented crystallites while casting them at -30°C and result in a elliptical spot of (h00) and (020) reflections along Qz and Qx,y directions.
